Hip Hop History: The Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Life After Death’ Album Was Released On March 25th, 1997

Hip Hop History:

The Notorious B.I.G.’s second and last album, ‘Life After Death’, was released 20 years ago today.

The double album was released posthumously following his death on March 9, 1997. It features 112, Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim, Mase, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Too $hort, Angela Winbush, D.M.C. of Run-D.M.C., R. Kelly, The LOX and Puff Daddy.

As a sequel to his first album, ‘Ready to Die’, it picks up where the last song, “Suicidal Thoughts”, ends.

‘Life After Death’ was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 1998. Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance for “Hypnotize”, and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Mo Money Mo Problems”.
