Hip Hop History: LL Cool J Release ‘Phenomenon’ On October 14, 1997

Today In Hip Hop History:

LL Cool J released his seventh studio album ‘Phenomenon’ on October 14th, 1997.

The album is executively produced by Sean “Puffy” Combs and features production from The Hitmen.

The album singles were “Phenomenon”, “4, 3, 2, 1”, “Father”, “Hot Hot Hot” and “Candy”.

“4, 3, 2, 1” which featured DMX, Redman, and Method Man is notable for starting the LL Cool J vs. Canibus. The original version included Canibus, but due to some lines that LL Cool J took offense to, he was removed from the music video. Canibus would later be included remix version of the music video.
