Hip Hop History: Jay Z Released ‘The Dynasty: Roc La Familia’ On October 31, 2000

Today In Hip Hop History:

Jay Z released his fifth album ‘The Dynasty: Roc La Familia’ on October 31st, 2000.

‘The Dynasty: Roc La Familia’ was originally a Roc-A-Fella Records compilation album. The album would showcase Roc-A-Fella artists Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Amil and Freeway, but was ultimately marketed as a Jay Z solo album to increase sells.

The album featured guest appearances by Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, and Scarface, and production by Just Blaze, Kanye West, Rick Rock, Bink! and The Neptunes.

Singles released off the album included “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)”, “Change the Game”, and “Guilty Until Proven Innocent”.
